The Wii vs. The Xbox 360
The Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii are two of the hottest game consoles out
there on the market today. So how do you know which is best for you?
What are the benefits and drawbacks of each? Which console will give me
the best deal for my money?
Wii vs Xbox 360 PRICE
The first thing you need to decide when choosing your console is how
much you want to spend. The Xbox 360 is by far the more expensive one.
It starts at a price of $360 and goes up if you want the elite version.
The Nintendo Wii is about $250.00 for the console.
Wii vs Xbox 360 GRAPHICS
The next thing you’ll want to consider is the graphics and online
gaming possibilities. The Xbox 360 has the superior graphics and is
very crystal clear. The Nintendo Wii’s graphics are good, but not
up to the Xbox 360’s standards. Also the Xbox 360 is set up for
an extreme gaming experience. You can buy a Live membership and be
able to do a multitude of things on the net with other gamers. The Call
of Duty games and Socom games are very popular for online gaming.
Wii vs Xbox 360 Multimedia Playback
The Xbox 360 also has many other options. You can play any media files
from Zune on them; you can also play all your MP3’s and connect
your iPods to it. You can download your pictures, set up a webcam and
talk to your friends and message them. You can also change the
faceplate on the Xbox 360. The Wii has some online capabilities and
downloadable music and movies. It does not have the online gaming
capabilities that the Xbox 360 does though.
Wii vs Xbox 360 Hardware Reliability
One of the greatest things about the Wii is that it is very reliable
and virtually never crashes. The Xbox 360 has a multitude of problems
including the commonly known ”Red Ring of Death”. This
makes the Wii superior in this as you would not have to worry about
your console crashing on you, and then have to worry about repairing
it.
Wii vs Xbox 360 Exclusive Games and Other factors
The games for the Xbox 360 and the Wii are very different and seemed to
be aimed in two different directions. The Xbox 360 targets a large
audience and offers a numerous variety of games from Bolt for kids to
Call of Duty 5 for the hardcore gamers. It offers the most popular
games from Tom Clancy, Disney, and more. The Wii seems to be
aimed more towards the whole family, though they are getting a wider
variety of games, and have recently added titles like Call of Duty
5. Wii is a very family orientated gaming system as even the
“war” games have the adult graphics mellowed out.
Both of these systems have interactive games like the rock star, and
American idol. Nintendo has also kept the ever-famous Mario games and
Mario Kart.
Another great thing about the Wii is the revolutionary way you play
their games. The Wii system uses motion sensing for game playing and
gives you a great opportunity to get up and move your body when
playing. The Wii also offers the “Wii Fit”. This is a new
game that is virtually sold out wherever you look. The fit offers you a
way to do yoga, and play the games in a rather realistic manner. You
can use the fit board to play things such as snowboarding and skiing
using your body weight to move the board as you play. This type of
gaming system offers you a unique way to get up and move while playing
your video games, instead of just having to sit.
The backwards play also may affect your decision. The Xbox 360 regular
system cannot play the old Xbox games, the next one up will play some
of them and the Xbox 360 elite will play virtually all your old Xbox
games but you will have to spend the extra $100-$150 to get it. The Wii
will play all of the game cube games you have, though interactive play
may vary.
So when it comes to deciding which gaming system you want a lot of it
depends on personal preference and exactly what you are looking for. If
you want a lot of online features and stellar graphics for a bit more
cost then the Xbox 360 is for you. If you want a family friendly or
interactive gaming system for a very reasonable price then you would
want the Nintendo Wii. Ultimately it’s up to you and what you
need for your family.
